Many thanks to our friend, Vidal, who agreed to drive us out to the start at Antelope Wells, NM. We drove 12 hours (most of it in TX) to Deming, NM where we will spend the night. In the morning, we will drive the remaining 95 miles to AW where we will begin riding.
I don’t really know what to expect from our first day. I anticipate this first week in NM will be the hardest, so I don’t want to bite off more than we can chew right away. Between the heat, getting used to the bikes, and the lack of water, I will be happy to make it up to I-10 which is about 65 miles from where we will begin riding.
It is my birthday today, so between all the birthday wishes and the shout-outs of good luck from everyone, I am reminded how blessed I am to have so many great friends! I also try to remember each day what a blessing it is to have the fitness to ride my bike and the opportunity to tackle such an epic adventure!
