Nice day for a bike ride, eh? Leaving Fernie, it was a brisk 45 degrees with hardly any wind. The trail I found on the interwebs apparently does not exist in the real world, so I headed down Crow’s Nest Highway along the Elk River. It was a beautiful road and believe it or not, it was mostly downhill!
I stayed in my highest gears except for one steep climb and made good time towards the border.
I passed this point along the way which is where Galton Pass spit me out last year. What a difference a year makes! Instead of emerging in a zombie-like state on Day 5, today I cruised by feeling strong on Day 3! I still am thankful to God for delivering me from that mountain.
Waited in line with all the campers to clear customs, and then the final 8 miles to Eureka flew by.
Checked in to the Ksanka Inn, got my provisions for tomorrow at an awesome store called Heaven’s Peak, and I’m writing this from the furniture store/laundromat. (“Absolutely no hides in the washing machines!”)
Tomorrow, looks like a tough day down to Whitefish. I have to do about 90 miles over 2 passes: Whitefish Divide and Red Meadow Lake.
And today’s my birthday!
