Today’s “trail” was asphalt through Sparwood to the quaint ski town of Fernie, BC. I thought of heading all the way to Eureka, but my body and a stiff headwind led me to take it easy and give my body time to adjust.
After lunch at A&W, I headed down a busy highway packed with campers to Fernie. I tried, with no luck, to find a hotel where I could do laundry – and there’s not even a laundromat in town! (I only have the kit I’m wearing, and it’s important to me to keep it clean.)
I’m getting my “in-town” routine sorted out now, so I’ll be more efficient going forward.
I told Claire I wanted to be in Eureka for my birthday tomorrow, so that’s the plan. Eureka holds a special place in my heart as it was my oasis after dragging my @$$ out of the Flathead last year. I should make Whitefish on Monday.
On another note, it looks like I was lucky to miss Southwest Airlines’ major meltdown this past week. My heart goes out to all the pilots, flight attendants and our customers who were affected. Here’s hoping Southwest HQ gets its act together soon.
